Under The Tuscan Sun... and Just By The Olive Trees

When I was 19, I spent a semester in Italy. Just outside of Florence on a hillside of a sleepy suburb in a 15th century villa. In this villa, we had class, we had little Italian women cook for us and we stayed up way too long every night. I'm not sure anyone can spend three months at that villa and not have those moments stay with them forever. There really is something magical about "the villa," and I am so glad that I got to share it with my family this summer.

While we were there, my friend Grant snapped some pictures of us around the house. He, literally, took out his camera and starting clicking away after breakfast one day. (And from the lack of Tyler and/or group photos, you'll see that it was so casual that he went in to change out the laundry about two minutes into taking pictures and we had given up by the time he had come back out.)

I have to say, I love them. Not just because I can now appreciate the gift of having us all four in the same photo... but especially so because they're a reminder of a normal day that made up this gorgeous holiday.

There are so many memories that I have from the villa- visiting with my family in high school, arriving with my best friend and a huge suitcase to live out of for the spring whilst in college, saying goodnight to friends in the driveway during the summers in college, eating lunch with Tyler as newlyweds in the dining room, laughing on the terrace with Oxford friends after graduation, and now... well, with my sweet babies toddling around the yard.

I love Florence and the lifelong friends that we have there... and, well, now I have some pictures to add to the others we already love from this same special place.

Viola is turning two tomorrow, and we are in Paris celebrating at Disney. You're kindly obliging us with kind comments on social media and celebrating with us during the fun.... so, it's time to pass out a little favor from this party.

Boxes of conversation hearts? Plastic bags of crayons and play-doh?

Or.... how about a brand new iPhone 6? Yes? Yes!

THREE Mobile is generously gifting one reader of Aspiring Kennedy a new, unlocked 16GB iPhone 6. (So yes, it will work on any network!) No strings attached. £600 value and it's yours for the taking... assuming you win, that is.

My real camera is currently suffering from some "technical difficulties," so I'm 100% taking photos on my iPhone these days. With apps like Afterlight and VSCO Cam, I really haven't felt the pangs to get my "real" camera fixed. The iPhone6 does an amazing job capturing everything... and it's so much less of a hassle than remembering to bring our other camera. (Plus, the App Store offers one of largest selections of apps in the world, so the options are endless when you're looking for ways to make your pictures look gorgeous and help make traveling easier.)

Enter below to win by commenting with an app makes your life better when traveling- as well as a few other options for additional chances to win. GOOD LUCK. I wish I could give each of you a pretty, new iPhone, but I've only got one to give. And a big thank you to THREE Mobile for spoiling someone awesome.

Over the Moon: LUNAFEST.

Full disclosure: This is a sponsored post. Thanks for reading, clicking and supporting LUNAFEST. It's a pretty awesome thing.

Right now, Luna Bar is hosting a film fest around the country that focuses on women "game changers." It's called LUNA FEST. Have you heard about it? I feel like I've seen so many tweets chatting about it, and I love that! Not only does the film fest celebrate women filmmakers, but it also has raised $2.5m for breast cancer research.

I was invited to attend part of LUNAFEST hooplah, but unfortunately- the old Atlantic is keeping me away. (It looked pretty fun, too.) The event was focused on game changers.... and I couldn't help think of how many women have stepped into my life at just the right moment. Maybe they didn't change the game for me, but they flipped my world upside- in the best way.

Friends, Mom. Aunts. Camp Counselors. Professors. Co-workers. Bloggers. Midwives. Expats.

They're the women that cheered me on through good times. Awkward times. Exciting times. Tough times. Normal times.

I'd like to thank many of you, too, for being there in life for me at those needed moments. You've changed the game for me, too, but your kindness and friendship. Maybe it sounds silly

And thanks to LUNA Bars. As silly as these corporate events may sometimes sound, I really do love them for their ability to fund people doing something worthwhile together. Thanks to them for sponsoring LUNAFEST. (Maybe next years invite will come with a plane ticket.) :)

Check out the event page site for your local LUNAFEST. You're invited and they want you there. Go for it. Or just watch their happy video trailer below. It'll pump you up.

Okay... my mushy time is over. Now it's yours.

Leave a women who was a game changer for you below. Let's hear it.  ... and if you, too, lived on the lemon Luna Bars in college. I was addicted!

Picture Perfect: London

We weren't exactly planning to be in Texas for four months over the summer… Life just happened a bit differently than planned- as I've come to learn it often does. While my summer plans are now focused on beating the heat by the pool, catching up with high school friends over breakfast, and hitting up the obscene summer sales (like Nordstroms!), we once had plans of picnics in Hyde Park, strawberries and cream at Wimbledon and getting to see various friends that were coming through London.

But one thing I'm especially bummed about? Well, I'm really bummed that we aren't in London while Stephen Jerkins is in town. See, if you're from Nashville, you've probably heard of him. If not, you may not know what ridiculously good/cute/cool pictures he takes (like these). We had big plans to shoot a really fun series together. (Why is it so hard to find good photographers in London? They're as rare as a JIFFY cornbread or a Reeses Blizzard.) Now that I'm planted here in Texas through August, that once-fantasized session is no longer happening.

My misfortune is now your luck. Stephen has graciously agreed to taking some pictures of my friends, but I've asked (read: conned) him into offering it to any other lovely people that may live in London, read this blog, and want some awesome pictures. And he's offering an awesome deal: £100 for an hour shoot + 25-30 digital files with printing rights. He'll be in London July 31 & August 1 with time to shoot.

So go on, you cute London people. Take advantage of his talent and the chance to capture this special moment of life living in the best city in the world. Do it, take some gorgeous pictures in front of Big Ben, and make me really, really jealous.

(I'd actually be pretty happy for you… I guess.)

Contact Stephen directly at stephen@stephenjerkins.com if you're interested. And don't forget to tag me in your IG from the shoot to make me feel especially terrible. ;)
